Collaborative intelligence for decisions that matter.

CASi Labs is an independent European lab for collaborative intelligence — the reasoning capacity that emerges when human judgment, structural analysis, and expert AI agents work a problem together.

We build that capacity around the situation you bring: a structural model of the situation, a team of expert AI agents bounded to the parts they actually know, and a room where you and the team work it through. For policy, crisis, strategy — and anywhere a decision has to be more than a best guess.

The problem we address

Making a high-stakes decision inevitably collapses a complex situation into a single answer. The opaque situational structure, the dynamics it hides, and the missing expertise it requires often leave that answer little more than a best guess. You can't fully explore, pressure-test, or understand what you are dealing with — which makes the decision hard to explain, audit and defend.

CASi Labs is built for exactly this. With the situation made explicit and the expertise in the room with you, you can pressure-test the framing, see where the parts connect, and reach a decision you can stand behind.

The CASi Labs platform is a collaborative intelligence system designed to make complex situations transparent, and your decisions explainable, auditable and defensible.

What you get

A workspace that gives you the foundation you need.

The situation

Modelled for the question at hand.

Causes, dynamics, and how the parts connect — a structural model built specifically for the decision you're facing.

The expert team

Bounded agents, mapped onto it.

A team of expert AI agents, each with a distinct expertise profile and bounded to the part they actually reason on — so you see how each expert reads the situation, and where their readings differ.

Briefing & instruments

The answer, and the tools to act on it.

The team's response in their own voices, and alongside it the working instruments they build it on — an options comparison, a vulnerability map, a response roadmap. Every piece open to interrogation.

In the room

A dedicated meeting room to work with the expert AI agents.

Every workspace opens into a meeting room — where you sit with the expert team and work the reasoning directly, not through a hand-off.

Dr. Bartel Van de Walle

Founder, CASi Labs

Dr. Bartel Van de Walle is working at the intersection of applied AI, complex-situation analysis, and human decision-making under pressure. He founded CASi Labs after two decades of research, UN leadership, and field deployments in crisis, humanitarian, and policy contexts — where the reasoning gap between available information and defensible judgment kept showing up as the problem no tool was solving.

Before founding CASi Labs, Bartel was Director at UNU-MERIT (United Nations University), Professor in Policy Analysis at Delft University of Technology, and Senior Visiting Fellow at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative and Harvard Kennedy School.
